Let’s start a little differently this week.
Something Completely Useless
Did you know the filling inside of a Kit Kat bar are wafers which haven’t made it through the production process? In other words, if one doesn’t hold together through the quality assurance phase, it’s “repurposed” for another try. True story! Also, I saw a commercial recently that there’s a “Birthday Cake” flavored Kit Kat these days. My opinion: Why spoil a good thing?
A Prayer
(Before you apologize.) The following is a portion of a prayer and attributed to Anastina Wiles. Sit with these words, if you can.
Lord, I have yet again
fallen short:
I sinned against another,
and in doing so I have
not only hurt them,
but also added brokenness
to a broken world, sinning
against your creation, sinning
against you, and grieving
your Spirit.
I am sorry.
Though I am sorry, there are even now
parts of me that - instead of experiencing
conviction and remorse -
continue to seek justification
for my choices, my actions, my words.
O Lord, grant that such
self-righteous pride not long
grow in my heart;
instead root it from me
as a weed from a garden.
As I strive to perceive the whole of my sin,
to understand its rippling
and varied consequences,
give me clarity and sensitivity to
recognize the pain I have caused.
…
Keeper of my conscience, convict me;
healer of my brokenness, mend me;
wellspring of my joy, refresh me.
Amen.
Now Hear This
C.S. Lewis once wrote, “All that is not eternal is eternally out of date.”
July Garden
Although we’ve been hot and humid - after all it is July - we received 1.6” of rain in just a short time. How about that! God is good.
We’re out and about for a few days. If you find us, say hello! And have a great weekend.
Enjoy this beautiful day!
Powerful prayer. Thank you.
